Productivity and AVOIDing BURNOUT My routine/tips:
I like to make myself a list of daily activities to complete each day. These can include house chores such as hoovering, putting washing on etc. These can also include healthy habits such as reading a new book, learning scripts, researching etc. I work my way down the list of tick off each activity/job as I have completed it. Once I have completed every activity on that particular day, I can then relax, unwind and I feel comforted knowing that I have been productive and I am staying on track. I also like to set aside one day each week where I take a more relaxed approach, I don't bombard myself with 50 things to do that day, instead, I tell myself I am allowed this day to do not stress or worry about anything. I can do whatever I like and then continue with all my work the following day. It is also important to allow yourself to have time off, and to try not to feel guilty when doing so. Your body and mind need to relax and reset. Ensure you take time to include fun, relaxing activities, such as, meeting friends, holidays, nights out etc. You only get one shot at life, and although it is important to work hard and, if you're like me, you are driven in pursuing a specific career, it is still important to experience your life and enjoy it. This definitely helps to ensure I don't burn out!
My favourite shows/playsSeptember 2020I seem to be very drawn to things I can relate to. Growing up in rural Oxfordshire, I had to keep myself entertained. Often through strange activities such as, running into the field opposite my house, getting the farmer to spot me and chase me, so that I could get a bit of excitement in my life. As weird as this is, I feel this connects well with the BBC 3 show This Country. Which follows the story of two teenager's secluded lives in the countryside, trying to entertain themselves by irritating their neighbors and befriending the Year Sevens. I found this show to also appear personal to the two actors, who wrote the series themselves. A lot of the characters were based off of real individuals they had met in their childhood. The idea for the series started when Daisy May Cooper, who had graduated from RADA, struggled to find acting work and spent several years from as a cleaner for income. Her and her brother Charlie were so depressed they'd joke about stories and events from their school days and decided to piece together a show. I find this story truly inspiring, it shows how dedicated and driven you have to be to succeed in this industry. Another of my favorites is the BBC 3 show I May Destroy You, written and directed my Michaela Coel. It followed the topic of consent, which I feel lot's of us have had experience with. I admire Michaela because it is clear that her writing is personal to her, which may help others feel less isolated in their own experiences, highlighting how important consent is and how detrimental the after effects of sexual assult are.
